Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation

Receding gums causing teeth to be sensitive or are unsightly brown roots showing when you smile? Through the Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation procedure, we can change all that.

This treatment is a scalpel-free, suture-free, graft-free, conservative procedure for correcting gum recession to save teeth. Through a small hole made by a needle, Dr. Stones will use specially-designed instruments that are used to gently loosen the gum tissue and glide it over the receded part of the tooth.

Patients are pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement this offers.

What Is Gum Recession?

If you’ve experienced gum recession, it may be an indication you have periodontal disease. Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a very common malady that occurs due to the buildup of plaque and tartar on teeth.

Complications Caused By Receding Gums

When you lose gum tissue, your tooth roots and the surrounding structure can become exposed. This exposure means that your teeth are more vulnerable to bacteria and decay. Left unchecked, this can lead to tooth loss.

Keeping your gums healthy is essential to your oral health. That’s why we offer this treatment for those who experience receding gums.

The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique vs. Gum Grafting

The Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique was created by Dr John Chao and allows us to treat your gum recession with a conservative gum surgery. There are many benefits to using this technique over the traditional gum grafting procedure.

Traditionally, gum recession has been treated by using gum grafts. Soft tissue or donor tissue is used to rebuild the gumline. The tissue is sutured into place, eventually bonding to the existing gum tissue. Because this treatment involves scalpels and sutures, it is considered more invasive and less comfortable.

Alternatively, the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique is a conservative surgery that we can perform here in our office. This gum surgery doesn’t require gum grafts at all! Instead, we use a tiny needle to make a pinhole in your gums. We then loosen your gums and slide your gumline over your exposed tooth roots.

Benefits of Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique

As you may have guessed, there are many benefits to choosing the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique. These benefits include the following:

  • Minimized discomfort and/or pain after treatment.
  • Quicker recovery time.
  • No uncomfortable sutures.
  • No need for scalpels or invasive tools.
  • No gum grafting.
  • Long-lasting results.
  • A healthier smile!

This is a valuable technique for patients who are suffering from gum recession!
